BlackNSA officially recognized as affinity group representing Black speakers. This group met mainly as informal gatherings at the NSA Conventions.
Marquesa Pettway takes on the role of leadership of BlackNSA. Under her leadership, BlackNSA moved from a once or twice yearly gathering to an active, recognized community group with official educational offerings and speaker growth programs.

BlackNSA holds first official election. Lethia Owens becomes 1st elected president of BlackNSA.
