1. Who is eligible to vote in the BlackNSA Board election?

All active members of the Black National Speakers Association (BlackNSA) in good standing are eligible to submit a nomination and vote. This means your membership dues are current, and you meet any additional criteria outlined in the organization’s bylaws.

Voting is conducted electronically through a secure online platform. Eligible members will receive an email with detailed instructions and a unique link to access the ballot. Ensure your contact information is up-to-date to receive this communication. Please use the same email address we have on file for you when casting your vote to ensure it is counted. 

The voting period starts on June 15th at 7:00 PM ET and concludes on June 21st at 7:00 PM ET. All votes must be submitted by 7:00  PM Eastern Time on the closing date to be counted.

No, proxy voting is not permitted in BlackNSA Board elections. Each member must cast their own vote to ensure the integrity and fairness of the election process. 

Votes are tallied immediately after the voting period ends. Candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the available positions will be elected. Results will be announced via email and posted on our social media platforms and our website.

Candidate bios, statements, and any available campaign materials will be accessible on the BllackNSA website at www.blacknsaspeaker.org/vote. Members are encouraged to review this information to make informed voting decisions.

PRESIDENT

Before becoming President of BlackNSA the board members serves President-elect. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in public speaking, coupled with extensive experience in associate management and strategic leadership. Responsibilities include spearheading initiatives to enhance professional development opportunities, advocating for enhanced industry standards, and forging strategic partnerships to expand BlackNSA's reach.

Exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of the industry, and a genuine passion for empowering speakers are essential qualities for this position. The chosen candidate will lead Black NSA into a new era of growth and influence. Apply now to play a pivotal role in elevating our community and amplifying professional voices.

PRESIDENT-ELECT

TERM: This is a 2- year term position
REQUIREMENT: Membership in the National Speakers Association and BlackNSA is required for this role.
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary person for the role of President-Elect of BlackNSA. To be eligible for this role, a member must have at least 1 year of BlackNSA board experience. As the ideal candidate, you will lead strategic initiatives to amplify our members' impact, fostering a vibrant community and advocating for their interests. Your responsibilities will include developing and executing innovative programs, cultivating partnerships, and overseeing BlackNSA's regular operations. The successful candidate will possess a proven track record in leadership, excellent communication skills, and a passion for empowering professional speakers. A visionary thinker committed to inclusivity, you will drive our organization forward, ensuring it remains a cornerstone for advancing the voices of our esteemed members on a global stage. Serving as the President-Elect is the board members role the year before assuming the role of President.

SECRETARY

TERM: This is a 1- year term position
REQUIREMENT: While paid membership in the National Speakers Association is not required for this role, applicants must be members of BlackNSA.
We are seeking a dynamic and organized individual for the role of Secretary of BlackNSA. As Secretary, you will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless communication, record-keeping, and administrative support. Responsibilities include managing executive calendars, preparing and distributing meeting agendas, recording minutes, and coordinating internal and external communications.

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and proficiency in office software. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as the Secretary will interface with stakeholders, speakers, and association members worldwide. A passion for the mission of our organization and a proactive, collaborative attitude are key attributes we seek in our next Secretary.

TREASURER

TERM: This is a 1- year term position
REQUIREMENT: While paid membership in the National Speakers Association is not required for this role, applicants must be members of BlackNSA.
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Treasurer to join BlackNSA. As the Treasurer, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial health of our organization, overseeing budgetary processes, and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies. Your responsibilities will include financial reporting, monitoring cash flow, and collaborating with the board to make strategic financial decisions.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in finance or accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a deep commitment to our mission. We require a strategic thinker with exceptional communication and leadership abilities, capable of fostering financial transparency and accountability within our vibrant community of professional speakers.

FINANCIAL SECRETARY

TERM: This is a 1- year term position
REQUIREMENT: While paid membership in the National Speakers Association is not required for this role, applicants must be members of BlackNSA.
We are seeking a detail-driven and trustworthy Financial Secretary to join BlackNSA. In this critical role, you will have oversight of the chapter’s incoming and outgoing funds, sponsorships, and financial securities. You’ll work closely with the Treasurer and Board to ensure transparency, accuracy, and accountability in all financial matters. While certain tasks may be delegated to a board-approved designee, your leadership will ensure that all financial transactions align with chapter goals and policies.

The ideal candidate has strong organizational and record-keeping skills, integrity in financial management, and a collaborative spirit. We’re looking for someone who can help safeguard the financial well-being of our chapter while supporting strategic growth and community impact.

AT-LARGE BOARD MEMBER (3 Positions)

TERM: This is a 1- year term position
REQUIREMENT: While paid membership in the National Speakers Association is not required for this role, applicants must be members of BlackNSA.
We are seeking three (3) dynamic and visionary individuals to join Black NSA as an At Large Board Member, representing professionals in the field of professional speaking. As a key advocate for our industry, the successful candidate will actively contribute to strategic decision-making, offer valuable insights, and champion the interests of our diverse membership. Responsibilities include collaborating with fellow board members, participating in regular meetings, and leveraging your expertise to enhance our programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a proven track record in public speaking, a passion for fostering professional growth, and a commitment to advancing the mission of our organization. Join us in making a lasting impact on the speaking industry and shaping the future of our vibrant community. In addition to general board responsibilities, this role will serve as a liaison for key organizational initiatives, including but not limited to Influence Events, the Global Summit, and the Virtual Speaker Academy. This includes supporting alignment between these initiatives and the board’s strategic priorities, ensuring effective communication, and helping drive engagement and impact across the membership.
